Asked ChatGPT to help me design the SJS Direct version of Arthurian antagonist Morgan Le Fay. This is what it thought she looked like.
Wanted to go for a more contemporary look for the medieval sorceress. A simple green dress and pointed ears. With Morgan being part faerie, I wanted something that would make her visually distinct in a contemporary setting.
My take on Morgan Le Fay was supposed to be based on British actress Elizabeth Hurley. I loved her work in Austin Powers and Bedazzled and thought she’d be perfect for the voice and visual design for Morgan Le Fay. And Elizabeth Hurley Vs. Salli Richardson-Whitfield was a catfight most guys dreamed of watching in a movie.
Morgan Le Fay made her debut in E’steem: Faerie Tale in 2013. And in that story Morgan Le Fay sought out revenge on E’steem by going after John Haynes. That story chronicled how E’steem crippled Morgan Le Fay in a Sorceress’ duel and that put her on a road to look for revenge in a story that was filled with medieval action, adventure and a little jiggle.
I had plans for Morgan Le Fay to come back in another E’steem story. E’steem: Magical Murder Mystery was a book I planned to write years ago. But I didn’t feel I was capable of writing another mystery after Isis: All About the Goddess in 2013. However, I decided to take the risk and wrote it last year. However, as I was writing that story, the story was feeling like more of a John Haynes story. Morgan was working for Morris Phillips and John was dealing with Morgan and Lucretia Dracula as he found out who killed Gordon Razzy, the host of the Morris Phillips livestream show.
The fun thing about having a universe is that when a villain’s story doesn’t fit in one lead characters’ book you can follow up that villan’s story in another characters’ books and possibly make new readers for that series. For example, Lucretia Dracula made her first appearance in Isis: Escape from Transylvania. And her follow up story in E’steem: Horror in the Hamptons sold well. I’m hoping Morgan’s appearance will lead to some sales on John Haynes books and E’steem: Faerie Tale the way it did for Horror in the Hamptons.
John Haynes: Magical Murder Mystery will be out hopefully in spring of 2027. In the middle of final edits on that story and conceptualizing the cover right now!
