E'steem: Horror In The Hamptons Sample Chapter

Dropping a sample chapter of the new E'steem series book, E'steem: Horror in The Hamptons!

Chapter 9

The moon rises high in the night sky as I step out of the backseat of the Cadillac Escalade I’m riding in. As I peer up at the Morris Phillips Tower, I wonder if John Haynes will be home at this hour. I’m hoping if I make my case to him, he’ll be persuaded to help Lucretia.

Lucretia would love to have me subdue and kidnap John Haynes and his consort. However, I won’t have The New York Brood as an accomplice in any of the criminal activity she’s planning. While I know it may be difficult to get John to come to the house due to his numerous encounters with the undead, I would like to believe he’d be able settle this affair without any involvement of the NYPD’s Supernatural affairs division. The last thing I need is a scandal that gets back to Transylvania.

I gesture to my driver to leave. After he drives off, I look through the tall glass doors at the security team in the lobby. With The Brood being Persona Non Grata with Mr. Haynes, I doubt I’d be able to get past these guards. So I’ll have to approach John directly. With a thought I make my body fade into a mist. As my body starts to become lighter than air, I begin floating up the side of the art deco skyscraper I count sixty-six floors until I reach the top floor where the Penthouse is. As I peer into the picture windows of the living room, I spot John and his assistant E’steem sitting in the living room of the penthouse. The husky toast colored man wearing a flat top fade haircut, forest green shirt, black jeans and Chelsea boots and the tall voluptuous almond colored raven haired woman wearing a red wrap dress and heels are making their plans for Saturday night. I’m hoping they’ll be persuaded to change them when they hear Lucretia’s story. “So what movies are we watching on Tubi tonight John?” E’steem asks him.

Before John can answer her question, I make my body swirl into a fog that slips through the sliding glass doors of the balcony. When I make my body solid to stand in front of them, I’m met with surprised looks by the couple. “I’m hoping I can persuade you into changing your plans for this evening Mr. Haynes.”
