Got the cover for Isis: Revenge of the Cybergoddess from Bill Walko today and it looks FANTASTIC! Bill crafted a MASTERPIECE!

The Isis: Revenge of the Cybergoddess cover is a homage to Ross Andru and Dick Gioradno’s CLASSIC Superman Vs. The Amazing Spider-man cover from 1976. Since the battle in this one is HUGE I wanted the cover to reflect the EPIC showdown that’s featured in between the pages of this story.  If you like the BIG BATTLES like the ones featured in old George Perez Avengers and John Byrne Fantastic Four comics from the 70s and 80s this is the book for you!

 

The Isis: Revenge of the Cybergoddess cover is a powerful contrast to Bill’s first cover on Isis: Wrath of the Cybergoddess seven years ago. In that 2014 cover Isis was shown to be flying above the city in fear of the Cybergoddess. In this one she’s shown to be determined and ready to face off against her threat high above the skies of New York City.

 

If you put both Isis: Wrath of the Cybergoddess and Isis: Revenge of the Cybergoddess’ covers together you can see how Bill’s style has evolved over the years. The Revenge cover shows how he’s taken his craft to the next level. The storytelling on this cover has an EPIC feel and Just POPS off the page. This is a cover that MAKES you want to buy the book!

 

Following the theme of contrasts, Isis is wearing a new black costume. Well, new to readers. What readers don’t know is that black outfit was actually the first suit I designed for Isis to wear back in 1999!  

 

I wanted Revenge’s cover to tell a story of how Isis has grown as a character over the last few books. As she’s learned lessons in each of the stories in the second story arc, Isis has had to learn more about herself as she’s gone where she’s needed. As she’s learned her life lessons she’s gone through a lot of changes. And I felt it was time to introduce the black outfit to signify how she’s now ready to take on those threats like the Cybergoddess.

 

Is Isis’ new black costume gonna be permanent? We’ll just have to see.
