Great video. Could you do a follow up about single mothers and their sons? I grew up in a single mom household, lots a dysfunction. My mom hit the wall somewhere in her mid 40s, and when that happened, she went completely off the deep end. She'd start picking fights with her co-workers and her neighbors. She couldn't keep a job and moved constantly. She's a big drama queen, and I guess this was her way of getting her chaos fix. Anyway, in her mid-40s is also when she started calling me up, and constantly asking for money. At first I tried to help her out, but eventually I got tired of just being an ATM machine. The most egregious example is when my apartment complex burnt down, and I was almost homeless. Fortunately, some of my co-workers took up a collection and I was able to get a new place, but I made the mistake of telling my mom about my co-workers helping me out. Apparently she must have seen dollar signs in her eyes, because she started obsessively emailing and phoning me for money on a daily basis. And she wouldn't let up no matter what I said. With everything going, I almost had a nervous breakdown. It just disgusts me that my mom is like that. I moved on, and rarely have anything to do with her anymore. But, I have to say this video explains a lot of her behavior, so thank you.
Wrote a blog about single mothers and their sons a few years ago. http://shawnsjames.blogspot.com/2013/04/ways-single-mothers-destroy-their-sons.html and one stating why men should avoid single moms: http://shawnsjames.blogspot.com/2012/08/why-real-men-avoid-single-mothers.html
You are not making any sense. You tell men to stay away from single mothers but in the same breath you say that young Black men need a positive Male figure in the household. So which is it??
I am making sense. I tell single men to stay away from single mothers. The positive male figure they need in the household is THEIR FATHER. No man can be a positive male figure to his son but his biological father.

ReplyDelete"No man can be a positive male figure to his son but his biological father."
ReplyDeleteWhy? Why do you need to be biologically the father to teach a young boy right from wrong? Why is biology so important? What difference does it make?
^^^^^^ LOL I asked this question over a month ago. Why no reply Shawn?
