The Black Matriarchy and its Impact on the African-American Economic System

An economic system is the way a nation allocates its resources. Economic systems are a way people use resources build their communities up. Moreover, they are a way individuals in those communities build wealth that allows them to trade and with other nations.

In the mid-1960’s the economic system of the Black community was changed by White Supremacists to keep it from providing resources to African-Americans and to prevent African-Americans from building wealth. Understanding that America was two worlds, one Black and One white, they realized that there were also two separate economic systems, one Black and one White. And they didn’t want the Black economic system competing with the White Supremacist American economic system. So in true capitalist nature, these racists made plans to eliminate the competition.

Before integration in the mid 1960’s African-Americans had their own economic system. This system consisted of Black-owned businesses such as barbershops, blacksmiths, movie theaters, banks, insurance companies, hospitals, doctors, lawyers and, hotels. The money spent by African-Americans with African-American businesses kept money in the Black community. These resources allowed Black people to build up their own communities and the building of Black-owned wealth.

The first thing White Supremacists did to destroy the Black economy was to promote integration. While many African-Americans saw shopping at White owned businesses as a victory in the mid 1960’s they didn’t understand the long-term damage done to the African-American community from doing business with those White institutions. Every dollar spent at White-owned businesses took money out of the African-American community.

Worse, it took wealth away from African-American owned businesses. As African-Americans rushed to buy serge suits from Barneys and sit at Woolworth counters, and work at White-owned businesses, financial, physical and human resources were drained out of the Black community.

Second, they removed the Black male from his natural role as leader. Before the mid-1960’s the Black community was a patriarchy. Patriarchies are paramount to maintaining an economic system that builds wealth. Males are usually focused on building businesses and creating wealth. And as long as good, educated functioning Black Men were available in the Black community there remained an opportunity for businesses to be built and wealth to be created. So White Supremacists used a two-pronged assault to remove the Black Man from his leadership role and establish a new leader over the Black economy.

The first was to disproportionately draft Black Males and send them to fight the war in Vietnam. By sending so many good educated Black men to war, many of the Black community’s best and brightest men were killed off in the Vietnamese jungle. Worse, thanks to these racist and discriminatory drafts, the only Black men remaining in the community were pimps, preachers, ex-cons, drug addicts, number runners, the illiterate, and other dysfunctional males. Most were unfit for leadership roles.

Economically, all had no interest in building wealth or maintaining the infrastructure of the Black economy. Since these men were on the fringe, they made most of their money by exploiting the poorest and most gullible people in their communities.

So when these men rose to leadership roles they were ineffective. Most pandered to the women of the community.

The second part was to promote government programs as a source of income in the Black community. Before the mid 1960’s Welfare and other government services weren’t available to Black families. Because the Black Males’ income was constantly unstable due to racism and discrimination he faced in the workplace, Many Black women desired a more stable form of income. And government programs offered most Black women an opportunity to have a steady stable stream of income.

As Black women took handouts from government programs like Welfare, Section 8, Food Stamps, WIC, and college financial aid they were told by the government that they couldn’t have the Black father in the home. Eager to receive that stable stream of income than the Black man’s employment provided, Black women began throwing their men out of their homes. Worse, they began to listen to White Feminists who told them they didn’t need a man. Imbibing the propaganda of White Feminism many Black women began to believe they could do things on their own, they were strong and independent as they were becoming co-dependent on the government.

As many Black women became more miseducated, White Supremacists in corporate America began offering brainwashed Black women employment in White-owned businesses. As these working Black women and the women who joined the Welfare rolls became heads of households they became the de facto leaders of the Black community. Because these Black women were given a stable income by White Supremacists they controlled the money in the Black community. And by gaining control over the financial resources of the Black community Black women gained control over the Black economic system.

With the Black woman established as the leader of the household totally changed the economic system of the Black community from a Patriarchy to a Matriarchy.

As I stated before, the goals of a patriarchy focus primarily is on building businesses that produce wealth. The goals of these businesses are to create products and services that can be sold and traded to others to buy resources and build greater wealth for those business owners.

However, the primary focus of the Black Matriarchy is consumer related. Because the roots of the Matriarchy are in the home and caring for the home and children, the leaders in that economic system are dedicated to consuming goods and services produced by outside manufacturers.

In a patriarchal economic system money and resources flow from other economic systems to the manufacturers and businesspeople into that economic system. Those profits brought in from those economic systems are used to hire workers and expand the business into other markets. Moreover, it is used to build wealth in that economic system.

However, in a Matriarchal economic system money goes out of the economic system. When female consumers spend most of their money with outside businesses, their money is taken outside of the Black community. It is used to hire new workers outside of the Black community. Moreover, it builds wealth outside of the Black community for outsiders.

This is why the Black community has gotten poorer over the past 40 years while the economic systems of Whites, Hispanics and Asians and just about everyone else have expanded.

If one examines the Black Matriarchy, the primary focus is using its spending power to take resources from the Black community and using it to buy consumer goods and services. It is an economy designed to serve the interests of White Supremacists and keep African-Americans oppressed economically by denying them an opportunity for economic equality and the ability to compete in the national and international marketplace.

By taking the purchasing power out of the Black man’s hand and giving it to the brainwashed Black woman, White Supremacists knew they could destroy the infrastructure of the African-American economic system. Moreover, they were guaranteed to receive 98 percent return of Black resources into their economic systems.

With the control of the Black dollar placed in the Black woman’s hands, the Black economic system has all but collapsed. As she takes her wages from White Supremacist jobs or government public assistance and buys groceries from Latinos, weaves made of Indian hair, gets her nails done at Korean nail salons, and buys designer clothes from White designers, her community crumbles because there is no money or resources invested in it.

And as she teaches her children to be consumers like she is they learn to spend first and save last. As they take their money and buy expensive jeans, Nike sneakers and other consumer goods instead of investing in education and thrift, they wind up adopting a mindset that keeps them stranded in poverty.

Even if her children do get some sort of entrepreneurial mindset they’re corrupted by consumerism. So when they do start businesses they invest money in things that have no long-term value in the Black community or things that can produce wealth. Businesses like entertainment, publishing, food service, Hair care and other service-based businesses are designed to consume resources and not produce anything tangible that builds value over time. They do not allow an entrepreneur to hire new employees. They do not improve the quality of life in the Black community. In most cases these businesses cost more money to run than they actually take in!

So there is no wealth currently being built in the African-American community. As stated before 98 percent of Black dollars go out of the Black community into non-Black hands.

And the two percent that remains in the Black community goes into the coffers of Black Churches who do nothing to help improve the quality of life for the Black community. Most of the money preachers get in tithes and offerings are also spent on buying expensive consumer goods.

With most of the money going into non-Black businesses there is no wealth in the Black community. And without wealth, there is no money to invest in resources or to use to influence political power. It is the political power and influence of wealthy business owners that leads to tax dollars being directed towards buying and maintaining resources such as roads, schools, libraries, and maintaining the infrastructure of a community.

With a well-maintained infrastructure, a standard of living is established for citizens. This standard of living means that the quality of life for people can be improved upon. It is how schools get new textbooks and afterschool programs, traffic lights stay on and streets stay clean. It is how law enforcement keeps crime down so streets remain safe enough for investors to build and develop new businesses in areas and create jobs that add more wealth to a community.

Today, none of these resources are being spent in the Black community. None of that money remains in the Black community to maintain the Black community and improve its quality of life and Build wealth for African-Americans like it does for Whites, Hispanics, and Asians.

In fact the quality of life in the Black community has declined over the last 40 years.

The Black community is the only Matriarchy in the world. It is an economic system designed by White Supremacists to destroy African-Americans from within by using the Black Woman’s own consumer mindset against her. Out of all the economic systems in the world it is the only economy that contracts with each passing year instead of expanding. It is the only one where more money leaves the community instead than remains in it. It is an economic system designed to keep people stranded in poverty until they die.

Until Black women understand how to spend money and what to spend it on they will never achieve economic independence like their ancestors achieved in some cases. The consumer mindset of a Matriarchal economic system only produces poverty, pain, and problems that get worse with each passing generation.

Black women need to understand that Producers create profits. Consumers create debt.

  1. Hey, Shawn!

You are an excellent writer. As a white male I am probably your default enemy.

Your P.O.V. is refreshing. I do not agree with many of your conclusions in this post. But I respect your PASSION (and your skill with words). If you can focus your Passion into the Literature you write, there will be no stopping you.

  2. Lawd this was a long-winded way of blaming Black women for the fall of the Black community. Your focus is a sad one and misguided. I downloaded one of your books, but after reading your posts I have no desire to read it.

  3. @hg4,

You are not my enemy. I have no beef with White people. I just want people to understand White Supremacy, White Privilege and racism.

    We can agree to disagree.
The same passion in this blog is in my books. Check one of them out on the right at amazon or other online retailers.

    Anonymous,

I'm sorry you don't agree with my points. I'm just writing what I observe.

Look around. Who controls the money in the Black community? 80 percent of the Black men are unemployed. 45 percent are incarcerated.

A majority of Black men don't control the finances in the Black community.

Who are the heads of household in the Black community? Who are listed as heads of household on all the welfare cases, child support cases? Who get most of the jobs in the Black community?

It's not Black men. That's not who Steve Harvey, Tyler Perry The Black Church and all those street lit and erotica publishers are pandering to. They know Black men aren't controlling the money in the Black community. Or else the products would be different.

Now I am not blaming the Black woman for the fall of the Black community. I was making a statement about how White Supremacy turned the Black economy from a patriarchy into a Matriarchy. And how Matriarchies are a completely different economic system than patriarchies.

From my observations of the Black Matriarchy it's not about building businesses and wealth. Matriarchies are about buying consumer goods. Buying consumer goods from people of other communities does not build wealth in a community.

Selling goods to other communities is how communities build wealth. That wealth is used to establish a standard of living and a quality of life.

    Economics 101.

That's why the schools in the suburbs have new books, swimming pools and football teams While schools in the ghetto can barely afford to pay for afterschool programs and tutoring.

Black women have been the leaders of the Black community for 40 years. They have controlled the economy for 40 years. They control the Church. They control the politics.

If their leadership is so great under the Black Matriarchy, then why is the community getting WORSE instead of better? Why are so many Black kids dropping out? Why are these Black girls going crazy out here producing illegitemate kids and acting like sexual deviants? Why is the Black community collapsing?

I'm just asking the sistas to take responsibility for their actions. I'm asking them to take a LOOK at how their actions are destroying the Black community.

So if you don't want to read my books fine. All I'm writing about is what I observe.

I'm hoping by offending you I'm making you think about something.

  4. Shawn,

This is a very astute and hyper-observant post that details how 'integration' was indeed a 'trick' played on black people in this country.

Now understand, you're going to get some major flack for this post as evidenced by the people who responded before me; but don't be discouraged, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT OUR COMMUNITY DEFINITELY NEEDS TO HEAR AND COME TO TERMS WITH. And the people who are going to give you the most resistance are going to be white men and black women.

White men are going to cry bigotry, and black women are going to cry misogyny ; however, we need to understand that these two factions are actually on the same team, unfortunately. You see, quiet as it's kept, black women like feeling superior to black men, even if it's untrue and it ultimately hurts them; and I don't have to tell you the deal with how white men feel about us; even the 'liberal' ones.

White men and black women fail to realize that the main tenet of the 'Willie Lynch letter' was that WHITE MEN MUST KEEP THE BLACK WOMAN AWAY FROM THE BLACK MAN, AT ALL COSTS. And now that black women have bought into the whole sham of white feminism, it's even worse.

So I congratulate you for having the COURAGE enough to speak truth to power and say some things that our people might not like to hear, but desperately need to.

    Kudos bruh; powerful post!!

  5. These types of films do nothing to right the wrongs of the past. Show me how much more do people hate germans after watching Shindler's List or the pianist? Are the Japanese still being held accountable for the Raping of Nanking?

Creating films about slavery exceeds the Statute of limitations by about 50 years. The real powerful film should be about the crises blacks are facing today as a result of the policies of the last fifty years. Cointelpro, Rockefeller drug laws, redlining, exclusion from FHA loans, the war in Vietnam, the Prison industrial complex, Structural racism, absent fathers, the failure of the Great society programs, the masculinization of the black woman, the materialization of the black culture, poor Mathematics education, 3 strikes laws...anyway this film is a waste of a spotlight. What makes it worse is its protagonist and Lupita really don't have any connections to Slavery in America. Why wasn't that role given to a person with deep connections to slavery in America?
First the King statue , now this.
Besides the film being boring as hell and having to endure what is pornography to some whites, there are some who credit slavery for the superior physical ability of the black man and cannot feel even the slightest bit of woe for rappers or star athletes.
Did you know that it took nearly three years to raise 22 million dollars?
The film also highlights the hypocrisy of Christianity. Chattel slavery was ordered by "God-" I'm sure the God they taught blacks to love was indeed a white one.

This was something I wanted to post on facebook. It's about that Oscar winning film "12 years a slave "

I couldn't have said it better about 12 years a slave.

Myself I want to see movies about Black Wall Street, and the Pullman Porters. I would also love to see some movies discussing the last 50 years of Black history. COINTELPRO, The disproportionate draft of Black men in Vietnam, and a series of other issues related to modern day Black people. I get tired of the victim status of slave movies and the tired patronizing narrative.

  9. Your points are valid but yea just placing the blame on women is ridiculous and lazy to be honest. What you see is saturating social media and the television yes. There has been ample progress within communities though and I do feel you are focusing heavily on the negative when there are PLENTY of black women doing the exact opposite of what you are saying. AT LEAST own up to that. There are black women planting fruits and vegetables in their backyards to provide a source of nutrition as well as income to their families. They are making sure their kids stay in school and focus on math and science because they know that's the key. Stop pointing the finger. Why don't men since they are so much more logical and smarter than women with their business minds lead some women in the right direction? Picking up on my sarcasm? Pointing fingers and shifting blame is the opposite of constructive. We need to state that both genders have made great strides and BOTH have a ways to go. Your facts and observations were spot on. You are clearly butt hurt by the women you are exposing yourself to and your tone was very derogatory. Maybe try to contain your bias and broaden your circle of black women. Overall I enjoyed the read. Very insightful.
